Course description:  The objective of this course is to provide an introduction to the study of the earth’s surface features and processes. The earth’s surface in Physical Geography includes four zones (spheres) which are the lithosphere, hydrosphere, atmosphere, and biosphere. The course aims to explain the development and the spatial distribution of weather, climate, rocks, landforms, soils, vegetation, surface and underground water, coasts, and natural resources by understanding the processes operating at or near the surface of the earth and the way the four zones of the earth system interact. It also analyses the impact of human activity on natural processes, physical resources and the environment. The course also includes laboratory exercises designed to correlate with the respective lectures.
